Online as of today, Jan. 14, 2010- our petition, open to all Orinda residents, to ask the City Council to ban the use of Leaf Blowers in our city! You will have the option to have your signature displayed, or concealed as “anonymous”, in case you have any qualms about proclaiming your support for the cause (but then again, why would you?!).

Here is the link to the petition:

Thanks for supporting our efforts to reclaim Orinda’s peace and quiet, and for helping to eliminate a major source of air pollution in our neighborhoods!

  1. Hans Imkamp says:

No leaf blowers in Orinda. A lot of my neighbor’s leaves get blown onto my property which I have to clean up and the noise gets intolerable mostly during a time I want to take my nap.

  2. Eric Bain says:

I support the ban on leaf blowers.

  3. Deane Barker says:

Even if we can’t ban them maybe we can change the times they are allowed to be used to minimize the blowers impact. In my neighborhood the first thing that happens at 8am Monday morning is the starting of the leaf blowers in multiple locations. Why does this happen? Isn’t there something else in the yard or garden that needs attention? This just seems to be a bad habit of the gardeners if you ask me. I lived in Marin for sixteen years before living here. I don’t remember ever hearing a leaf blower there. I’ll bet most property owners are unaware that their gardeners are even running these noisy machines at these hours.
